2007 Saab 9-7X I know it's old, I know it has a lot of miles (155,000). This is our second car and our budget is about $4,000, so options are pretty limited - here in Michigan anyways. Believe it or not compared to similar size vehicles with same year and mileage this is on the cheaper side.

Reliability of the v6 on the 2.8L 2007 saab 9-3 Aero? I've been looking for a while now for a manual car and what looks to be a good condition 148k mile saab 9-3 aero showed up for $4,750. Being that its the 2.8L, this doesn't seem too bad especially if I can get it for maybe $4,200. But don't know the 2.8L aside from the fact it's faster.

The issue would be that it doesn't live up to the standard that Saab/GM has determined an oil needs to meet to be used in the car. If you put an oil in without the correct classification best case is nothing imminent happens. Worst case is premature failure of the engine. It’s like wondering why a lactose intolerant person can’t drink regular milk. It contains components which hurts them ...
