Gas chassis coaches, especially Class C's, often report about a 0.5 mpg hit when towing, but that's more like 5% than 20%. Larger diesel coaches usually see little or no appreciable difference, probably because the towed car is a proportionally smaller effect on the larger and heavier rig.

The gas mileage hasn't been quite what we expected. We heard 15-18, and I'm getting closer to 13-14, but most of the driving so far has been in the city and short trips... the one long trip was coming back from NC, and I was going up and down mountains in a headwind, so I didn't worry too much about the 13.
How would you rate Pace Arrow 1998 -2001 are these top of the line?
The one I'm looking at 1998 has the Ford 460, what is the deal on the tag axle? What is the reason for it, does it reduce gas mileage? Seems the NADA book is higher on the Pace Arrow then a lot of others in its class and people are asking under NADA in many cases, I like that.
